 Menu nutritional analysis

Meals offered by Littleton Public School’s food service operation meet United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) nutrient guidelines for school meals. The guidelines are designed to ensure that, over a period of one week, students are offered foods that contain 1/3 of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for eight key nutrients. The USDA guidelines also limit the amounts of sodium and fats that can be included in the weekly menu.

There are five weekly menu cycles for Elementary schools. Middle and high schools have two week menu cycle with four entrée choices.

Since menu analysis is done for each week, individual kitchen managers may move menu days around in the week, but are not allowed to move days from one week to another. This allows each manager to customize the menu without compromising the accuracy of the nutrient analysis.

The following documents illustrate the five menu cycles along with a sample of a elementary menu. If you have questions please contact food services at 303-347-3357.
