The following information is required for the placement of student teachers in the Littleton Public Schools.

All student teacher placement requests originate with the office of Human Resources.

Requests received from college/university MUST consist of the following before a placement can be made:

Request form including the following information:
-
name of student teacher
-
grade(s) and/or content area desired
-
requested school(s), if any
-
requested teacher, if any
-
specific dates of placement
-
Copy of student transcript
-
Resume or letter of intent
-
Student teachers will be placed based on the following criteria:
-
transcripts/grades
-
availability of teacher(s) in required area
-
willingness of school to take a student teacher
-
outcome of student-teacher interview (utilized at some school sites)

Requests for placement are initially sent to Human Resources. Human Resources then forwards those requests to the secretaries in Elementary Education and Secondary Education. The secretaries there work with individual schools regarding placements. Human Resources will forward all materials to those secretaries.

After confirmation of placement the secretaries to the level directors send the information to Human Resources. Human Resources sends the following to the schools:

Guidelines Handbook
-
confirmation paperwork (if provided by college/university)

If a placement is not secured, all paperwork is sent back to Human Resources promptly.

At the end of the school year, Human Resources forwards the name of student teacher, requesting college/university, and name of cooperating teacher(s) and school of placement to the staff development registrar for credit for the cooperating teachers.

At the end of the school year, a report will be prepared for the assistant superintendent of human resources by the director of human resources that includes the number of total requests, the number of student teachers placed, and the number of requests denied.
Placements other than student teacher placements:

Teachers in Residence/Colorado Alternative Special Ed Licensure – forward to Human Resources (LPS contracts only with Metro State for alternative licensure).

Classroom/Teacher Observations – placed directly by school principals.

Internships (regular education) – placed directly by school principals.

Interns and Practicum Students for Special Education – placed by special education coordinators in conjunction with building principals. (The placement of interns is a requirement by college/university who wish to receive a degree and be licensed by CDE).

Counseling Interns – contact the building principal or designee.
