Academic Excellence
LPS students consistently rank above state and national averages on standardized tests and as high or higher than surrounding school districts. The district boasts a 96 percent graduation rate. About 90 percent continue their education after graduation. Seniors earn millions of dollars in scholarships annually including National Merit, Boettcher, Presidential Scholars, and military academy appointments.
School Accountability Reports, Colorado's report card system, give a variety of information about school performance while assigning schools a rating determined by the Colorado Department of Education. In 2004-2005, 77 percent of LPS schools were assigned a rating of "High", or "Excellent"; 23 percent were assigned a rating of "Average". All public school students in Colorado take the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) test. When compared with nine Denver metro area school districts, LPS students rank in the top four at all grade levels and in all subjects tested on the CSAP.

The LPS community is committed to keeping class sizes at a level that children can receive personal attention.
Staff and Community
A major strength of LPS is the commitment and involvement of its staff and community. LPS has experienced, top quality teachers who average 12 years of experience, and 64 percent have masters degrees or above. Schools have business partners, and parent and community volunteers donate about 240,000 hours each year.
Finance
LPS Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) annually since 1993. We have also received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from GFOA and the Association of School Business Officials annually since 1988.
Security
LPS Safety and Emergency Preparedness Department has received the Pinnacle of Achievement Award in Safety and Security Management.
